This assessment item relates to the course learning outcomes as stated on page 1 of the Course Profile.
Details
Students will need to research and address the topic below. Submission will be hard copy through each
particular campus submission system.
TOPIC:
((( Define and explain what factors cause a monopoly market. What are the benefits of a
‘natural monopoly’? Provide market examples, tabulated data and draw graphs to support your
discussion)).
In your essay you must:
? Present your argument in an essay format
? Research at least 3 academic journal articles
? Carefully select appropriate economic theory and concepts
? Construct an in-depth and analytical discussion
? Use evidence and examples to support your work
? Write in a clear and logical manner
? Cite all references using the Harvard (author-date) system
? Prepare and format a reference list
You may use your textbook as a reference, but you must use references in addition to your textbook
when writing this paper. Marks will be deducted for those students that do not demonstrate extra
reading outside of the prescribed course materials (ie. textbook).
